You may be unaware that Vilnius has been called the City of Mercy for hundreds of years. Long before the days of Saint Faustina and Blessed Fr. Michael Sopoćko, The capital city was known for having a beautiful icon of Mary Our Mother of Mercy of one of the gates in the city wall. To this day, as people enter the city, many turn to bless themselves before the painting.
